Product Description

The Corbin CM-4a Core Mold is a precision tool designed to efficiently cast four lead cores of adjustable weight simultaneously, streamlining the bullet-making process.

Key Features:

  • Material Compatibility: Designed for use with clean lead, including scrap lead and mixed alloys (excluding high-tin content alloys) within the pressure limits of your dies. Antimony/lead alloys are preferred to prevent soldering to the mold components.
  • Design and Operation: The mold features four cavities of the same size, each with an adjustable rest plate supported by two nuts on threaded rods. This design allows for precise control over core weight by adjusting the position of the nuts, which determines the length and weight of the cores. The mold mounts securely to your bench, enabling one-handed operation without the need for a separate handle. A long sprue cutter facilitates easy sprue removal. The solid cast iron body holds the heat in, and allows the lead to remain fluid during pouring so your cores as smooth when they come out.
  • Safety Considerations: When handling molten lead, always wear heat-resistant gloves and face protection. Operate the mold in a well-ventilated area, away from potential sources of water, to prevent steam explosions. Ensure the lead used is free from contaminants like road dust and grit, which can damage the mold's interior.
  • Maintenance: Regularly clean the mold to prevent lead buildup and ensure smooth operation. Avoid using tin/lead alloys, as they can cause soldering to the mold components. Use a ladle and open-top pot for melting and pouring lead; if using a bottom-pour pot, ensure it is mounted securely to allow the mold to pass under it for filling.

The Corbin CM-4a Core Mold is an essential tool for bullet manufacturers seeking efficiency and precision in core casting. Its adjustable design and robust construction make it a reliable choice for producing high-quality lead cores.
