Steps for Making a Bullet

1. Prepare Your Materials: Gather your Corbin Precision Jackets, a 0.430" lead rod, and the Corbin .458" die set. Currently Corbin's do not offer an off the shelf 0.458" jacket, but you can purchase our 0.510" jackets and with a Corbin Jacket Reducing Die, reduce the jacket down to the 0.458" caliber. 2. Cut the Lead Rod: Cut the lead rod to the desired length for your bullet's core, ensuring it fits into the jacket. 
3. Swage a core: Place the cut lead into the core swage die to create a lead core that is the exact grain weight and diameter for your chosen jacket.
4. Insert the Lead Core: Place the lead core into the jacket.
5. Swage the Bullet: Using the die set, swage the jacket and lead core together. Apply steady pressure to ensure a tight fit.
6. Adjust the Shape: If using a rebated boattail or specific ogive, follow the die's instructions to achieve the desired shape.
7. Finish the Bullet: Place the jacket and seated core into the final point form die to shape the 6S nose of the bullet to your desired shape.
8. Inspect Your Bullet: Check the final product for consistency and accuracy before using them for your intended purpose.

Additional Products Required

To get started with your new .458" die set, you will need a Corbin S-Press, 0.430" lead rod or Pre-Cut Lead if you know your desired grain weight, and Corbin Precision Jackets in .510" (J-50-177) depending on the desired length and grain weight of the .458" projectile. Do not forget to grab a Jacket Reducing Die to reduce the .510" to the 0.458" diameter.
