Corbin Bullet Reducing Die (BRD-1-S)
Precision Reduction for Your Bullets
The Corbin Bullet Reducing Die (BRD-1-S) is an essential tool for bullet makers looking to fine-tune their projectiles. This high-quality die allows you to reduce the diameter of lead or jacketed bullets by up to 0.006 inches, giving you the flexibility to create custom-sized bullets for specific applications. However, be cautious—greater reductions can lead to extrusion of the base, distortion, or excess springback of the jacket.
Key Features:
- Standard Flat Base Punch: The included standard flat base punch works for most jacketed rounds and is a cost-effective option. However, if you desire a punch that matches the same base shape as your projectile, it will incur an additional cost. This specialized punch is necessary when reducing more than 0.006 inches or when working with softer lead to prevent distortion of the bullet's base during the reduction process. Please communicate with us after purchase if your projectiles base shape is not a standard Corbin shape.
- Compatibility: The die features a standard 7/8-14 threaded design that easily screws into the press head of the Corbin S-Press, while the 5/8-24 threaded punch fits snugly into the ram.
- Efficient Operation: Designed for use in the long stroke mode of the press, the BRD-1-S allows for optimal leverage and control during the drawing process. Corbin Swage Lube is recommended to reduce friction, ensuring a smooth operation and extending the life of the die.
- Drawing Process: The die draws down the diameter of the bullet by pushing it through the die and out the top. Ensure the punch matches the base diameter and shape of the finished bullet to prevent deformation, which can affect accuracy.
- Special Punch Options: Optional spring-loaded custom punches (designated with a “C” in the catalog number) can be used to support the bullet during insertion, making the process faster and safer.
- Versatility: This die is capable of reducing bullets such as .357 pistol bullets to make .355 (9mm) or .323 rifle bullets to .318, allowing you to customize your ammunition for a variety of firearms.
Operation Instructions:
- Lubricate the Bullet: Wipe the bullet with fingers moistened with Corbin Swage Lube.
- Position the Bullet: Place the bullet on top of the punch and raise the ram to the top. Adjust the die until it just contacts the bullet.
- Set the Die: Lower the ram slightly, then gradually screw the die down until the bullet fits into the die and moves freely. Short bullets may not fully emerge but should be past the die constriction.
- Monitor Settings: Ensure the die is securely engaged (at least two full threads) to avoid excessive pressure on the threads.
- Caution During Operation: Be aware that bullets may emerge with sudden force, so do not look down into the die or place any part of your face near the top while drawing.
Important Note:
The only bullet guaranteed to come out at the correct diameter is the sample bullet used to adjust and test the die. It’s crucial to send sample bullets with your order to ensure precise diameter control, as stock bullets will be used if no samples are provided.
Elevate your bullet-making process with the Corbin Bullet Reducing Die (BRD-1-S) and enjoy the precision and control you need for custom ammunition creation!

The Corbin Bullet Reducing Die can reduce the diameter of a bullet by up to 0.006 inches. Greater reductions may lead to extrusion of the base, distortion, or excess spring back.
You can use the BRD-1-S with both lead and jacketed bullets. It is designed to handle various bullet materials effectively.
Corbin Swage Lube is recommended to reduce friction during the drawing process, ensuring smoother operation and prolonging die life.
The punch used should match the base diameter and shape of the finished bullet. This die is for slightly altering the diameter of a bullet, it does not affect the nose or base shape. Using the wrong shape can deform the bullet and affect accuracy. Optional spring-loaded punches are available to help support the bullet during insertion.
To set the S-Press into its alternative position for using the Bullet Reducing Die, you need to switch the press from the swaging mode to the reloading mode. This typically involves adjusting the linkage to the long stroke position. Refer to your S-Press instructions for specific details on changing the position. This adjustment allows for optimal leverage and control during the reduction process, ensuring efficient operation and better results.
