Bore lap is used when normal everyday barrel maintenance is no longer enough. This could be due to excess fouling in the barrel, or if tool marks are found that are not desirable. It is designed to help smooth and condition the bore of a firearm, removing imperfections, fouling, and minor surface irregularities.

Bore lapping will improve the performance and accuracy of a firearm by addressing bore imperfections and fouling. It will also make future maintenance on your barrel easier.

There is no danger in damaging your barrel, but this does not need to be done as often.
